1. Rub-On Furniture Transfers
Furniture transfers (also known as furniture decals, decor transfers or run-on transfers) are an easy way to apply a beautiful design to a painted or non-painted surface. The design is printed on a clear acetate sheet so once applied it gives the final impression that the design was hand-painted or drawn on the surface.
Wait at least 24-48 hours, depending on the type of paint you’re using and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
You can apply the transfer with the included wood application tool or you can purchase a transfer tool.
Yes, make sure the desired surface is clean, dry, and has not been freshly painted. Any oil, wax, dust and debris may cause the transfer to not adhere correctly.
No. Wax can be used to seal your transfer, but the transfer will not adhere properly to a waxed surface.
Any water-based clear coat or wax will do. Do not use an oil-based sealer on your transfer, as they may cause the transfer to peel and/or bubble.
You can seal them right away after applying the transfer.
Yes. Make sure the wood is clean from oil/residue and loose particles or wood chips, and dry before application.
It’s recommended to keep your rub-on transfers at room temperature.
Yes. Transfers may be carefully cut or trimmed to size with scissors or a craft or utility knife.
You can use Goo Gone! Just follow the instructions on the bottle to remove the transfer.
Yes, you will need to do a lot of cutting, but it will look gorgeous! We like to use a ruler and a cutter/craft knife so that the cut is perfectly straight.
Yes! Transfers can be layered on top of each other.
2. Decoupage Paper
Decoupage paper can be used to decorate many art projects like furniture, wood, and planter pots.
You can apply decoupage paper with clear coat sealer, polyacrylic, mod podge, or decoupage gel. Lay the decoupage paper on top of a wet base coat, adjust the image to your liking, press entire paper down then seal with another layer of clear sealer.
Yes. You can cut it with scissors or tear it for a more jagged edge before application. You can also sand the edges off with using a sanding block once the product has been applied and is dry. Always sand in a downward motion.
Decoupage paper can take 15 mins to an hour to fully dry.
To preserve the job, particularly if you expect the object to get wet, it’s wise to seal it with Dixie Belle Clear Coat or Gatorhide.
No. It will need sealed with some waterproof sealer like varnish, lacquer or polyurethane.
Yes. Remove the drawer pulls first then apply the decoupage paper. Once dried use a push pin or small razor tip to poke a small hole from the outside inwards where the hardware goes then apply your pulls.
Decoupage paper resembles a dryer sheet and the wrinkles and creases will flatten out during application. You may also iron the paper on a low heat setting with no steam before application.
3. Silicone Moulds
Silicone moulds can be used to create beautiful decorative castings for a multitude of craft projects.
Yes. Silicone moulds are made of high quality, heat resistant, and food-safe silicone except for Stamperia brand.
You can use many products including ReDesign with Prima’s Modeling Material, clay, hot glue, wax, and resin/epoxy.
4. Chalk Paste
You may add a couple drops of distilled water at a time to your paste and stir gently. Keep adding and stirring until chalk paste reaches its original consistency.
Chalk paste typically has a shelf life of one year (unopened) and 6 months after it has been opened, but may be prolonged or shortened by things like temperature and how often you used the opened jar.
Chalk paste works on many different non-porous surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, canvas, burlap, paper, mirrors, and more.
You can only if you want it to be a permanent application. This chalk paste is not the same as chalkboard chalk paint which is washable.
Chalk paste may be applied with brushes or a silicone application tool/brush.
No. Dixie Belle’s chalk paste is permanent once dried.
Yes, you can mix different chalk paste colors together to create your own custom color.
Chalk paste may be used to create a 3D texture or design on a number of projects and furniture.
5. Knob Transfers
You can use the tool included. Or you may purchase the transfer tool.
We suggest using GooGone for easy removal.
You can. Or you can layer knob transfers to create your own unique design.
The transfers work on any smooth, clean, dry knob surfaces.
We recommend using Dixie Belle White Lightning Cleaner.
6. Finnabair Metallique Acrylic Paint
Dixie Belle Gemstone Mousse
